  • Level 1 - XBRL Essentials: XBRL Fundamentals, Tagging New Disclosures, Examining Fact Properties, Creating Calculations, and Basic Validations

    Course description: This day-long workshop will take participants from the fundamentals of what is required within the scope of XBRL through the steps toward ensuring a successful filing.

    Learning objectives: Through hands-on application, participants will learn how to:

    • Utilize the US GAAP Taxonomy
    • Anticipate and prepare for the overall XBRL project life cycle
    • Map and model disclosures
    • Distinguish concept and dimension use
    • Locate and create concepts
    • Create accurate XBRL facts
    • Correctly apply and manipulate fact properties
    • Create and manage calculations and its relationship to fact value sign
    • Structure a proper taxonomy outline
    • Resolve basic conflicts in SEC validations

    Anna Kwok is Vice President of Professional Services. She focuses her work in enhancing XBRL training and education to Workiva customers, as well as other related initiatives and solutions aimed at enabling higher data quality. Previously, Anna was Vice President at Financial Intelligence, LLC for two years where she led SEC restatement projects and other technical consulting services. She has 20 years of experience in financial reporting, FP&A, and accounting operation. Anna received her master's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

    Elena Korjavina, Team Manager of Professional Services, is a member of the XBRL training team. She develops internal training content on the interaction between emerging accounting issues and XBRL. In her previous roles at Workiva, she led teams of XBRL professionals in providing quality customer service and ensuring successful SEC filings. Elena has also held audit, advisory, and FP&A roles in public accounting and industry. She graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in economics/international area studies and a minor in accounting. Elena is a registered CPA in California.

    Elisabeth Page, Professional Services Manager at Workiva, assists customers with XBRL implementation each quarter. She received her bachelor's degree in accounting from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at The University of Texas at Dallas. Elisabeth is currently earning her master's degree forensic accounting from Southern New Hampshire University.

    John Muehe, Team Manager of Professional Services, is a member of the XBRL training team. He is responsible for developing and delivering training content to Workiva employees and customers. John also assists with the implementation of new features in Wdesk. John has worked for several years in public accounting. He graduated from Iowa State University with his bachelor's degree in accounting and management.

    Kim Gresham, Professional Services Manager, has been with Workiva for over four years. She currently focuses on creating, updating, and reviewing IFRS Taxonomy training materials for customers to ensure the content is appropriate. Kim received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business.

    Lisa Teitell, Professional Services Manager at Workiva, has provided XBRL services for a wide variety of industries over the last three years. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

    Lisa Teofilo, Senior Manager of Professional Services at Workiva, focuses on internal XBRL data quality initiatives and leads a professional services team that ensures customers' filings are accurate and successful. Prior to joining Workiva, she spent five years at Ernst & Young in public accounting, specializing in financial services. Lisa graduated from Illinois State University with her bachelor's in accounting and is a registered certified public accountant in the state of Illinois.

    Percy Hung, Director of Professional Services, leads the internal XBRL training and education at Workiva and manages external training programs to ensure continued customer success. Previously, Percy was at Financial Intelligence, LLC, a Silicon Valley-based financial consulting firm, where she focused on SEC restatements and other technical consulting services. She has over 15 years of experience in accounting operation and financial reporting.

    Peter Larison, Team Manager of Professional Services at Workiva, is a member of the XBRL data quality team. He focuses on evaluating the effectiveness and scale of released and proposed Data Quality Committee Validation Rules, as well as educating both employees and customers about them. Peter assists with the development and refinement of internal analytical tools to identify areas of improvement for consideration for automation and rule development. Previously, Peter worked for several years in the SEC service provider industry. He graduated from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University with a master's degree in accountancy.

    Samantha Azoulay, Professional Services Manager at Workiva, is part of the XBRL training team. Samantha develops internal training content and educates Workiva customers. She has prior experience as an auditor and as senior accountant for a publicly traded company. Samantha is a CPA and holds a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting from Binghamton University's School of Management.

  • Level 2 - XBRL Deep Dive: XBRL Refresher, Tagging Deep Dive, Complex Calculations, Sharpened Focus on Data Quality, and Intricacies of the SEC Rendering

    Course description: This daylong workshop will take participants beyond the basics of XBRL lifecycle into a deeper dive of more complex tagging scenarios and high impact Data Quality Committee validations to ensure a higher quality filing.

    Learning objectives: Through hands-on application, participants will learn how to:

    • Use the FASB XBRL Implementation Guides to aid in modeling complex disclosures
    • Discover the impact of alternate presentation styles on modeling decisions
    • Handle advanced calculations scenarios
    • Address common XBRL issues
    • Approach the latest Data Quality Committee validations
    • Perform a higher data quality review beyond the basic validations
    • Detect hidden issues in SEC Viewer rendering

  • Level 3 - Quality Review: A Systematic Approach to XBRL Review, Output Verification, Mastering XBRL Migrations, A Complete Guide to XBRL Maintenance and Refining Element Selection

    Course description: This workshop will take participants through the steps toward ensuring data quality beyond automated validation, and techniques to ensure a complete and accurate filing with highest data quality and usability.

    Learning objectives: Through hands-on application , participants will learn how to:

    • Complete a thorough review of all aspects of XBRL including:
      • advanced element selection
      • fact properties
      • calculation relationships
      • validation
    • Perform a higher quality review to address XBRL issues
    • Fully execute a taxonomy migration
    • Avoid common XBRL tagging mistakes
    • Effectively maintain XBRL from quarter to quarter
