Workiva Amplify 2022 Daily Dispatch 1: Ascent to Greatness

Workiva Amplify 2022 kicked off with more than 1,500 attendees joining us in Las Vegas and another 8,000+ attending online! Our first hybrid conference is going All In on the Bold Future of Transparency, as we focus on creating a better future together.

Opening Keynote: Ascend to Greatness with Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell

To start the conference, Time Magazine’s Sue Suh sat down with professional rock climbers Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell (you may recognize them from the documentary films Free Solo or The Dawn Wall). The three discussed Alex and Tommy’s storied history with climbing around the world and how it has shaped their view of collaboration, partnership, and sustainability. 

Sessions start strong

ESG is on many attendees’ minds, and several sessions dive right in to the topic. Todd Fields, ESG Global Sustainability at Boeing, shared insights into Boeing’s dedication to transparency, sustainability, and community engagement. As Todd said, “ESG is important for competitive positioning in the future.”

Other ESG experts shared how leaders are approaching ESG reporting with consistent engagement throughout the year, instead of dropping one annual report. One area of focus is that companies need to create an ESG strategy with accurate, reliable data because regulators and executives will want to know if the public can trust what the company says.

Over on the audit and compliance side of the house, a roundtable of experts shared secrets of high-performing teams. They touched on everything from boosting morale with customized Wordle games using work terminology to the importance of relationship building, especially in a remote or hybrid setting. 

And not to toot our own horn, but in one panel, a customer gave a shout-out to Workiva’s great customer support team. They said, “There’s no greater value than to call someone who knows more than you do.” 

The Amplify Expo opens in true Vegas style

Day 1 wrapped up with everyone mingling in the Amplify Expo, with demos, cocktails, appetizers, t-shirt making, and more!
