Schnitzer Steel Wdesk Overview Testimonial

It just gives the people working at Schnitzer Steel so much more ability in house to do everything they want to do. They have less downtime where they are waiting for turnaround form a publisher and it gives them so much more control and from a public accounting standpoint though I wasn’t a public accountant here, I have never been on the audit team, version control and the ability to provide the black lines is a great way to keep everyone in the loop as to what’s changing.

My favourite honestly now is the fact that you can have track changes on but you can hide them or you can show them. Because sometimes making all these changes it messes up formatting and you can’t see that when the track changes are on. When I provide a document to be reviewed by my CFO I want the formatting to be as nice as possible, that’s just a picky thing but it’s nice to present to your executive team a pretty document.

In a way I was able to jump right in and understand sort of the flow of documents and the tables and how sort of all the supporting files ultimately rolled up into the project that you’re focused on for a particular filing.

What I found with time is that it had a lot of the functionality that I was very familiar with, with other word processors and spreadsheet programs and the way things linked was very similar to a software I had used before. So there was a familiarity that gave me comfort that I could really focus on the content of our filings that are in the Workiva product as opposed to worrying about learning about all of the nuances that could potentially trip me up.

I would say that this is a huge draw to get people to come to the company because it is such a wonderful tool to use and makes the job so much easier.

I would highly recommend Wdesk. It has the functionality that a lot of people are used to with word processing but it takes it a step further. You have the ability to link information. You have version control. You have great accessibility to it and it makes a sometimes difficult process and stressful process much easier because everything is at your fingertips.
