We’re a global power generation and distribution company. We own and operate power plants to distribute energy. We also own generation facilities around the world.

We had the demo of—back then it was WebFilings—and we saw that the product was much more efficient, much more user-friendly. And it kind of solved a lot of the pain points that we had with the previous software that we were using. So at that point, we just decided to go ahead and make the switch.

Initially, when we first switched over to Workiva, we were just using it for our financial reporting. Then after that first quarter, when we saw how easy it was, then we started implementing it into other areas. It made the process so much more faster. Because we’re able to go in, make edits, make changes, and actually flow through the document as opposed to waiting for one person to input all these changes. I think there’s a wealth of opportunities for us to leverage our investment in Workiva and expand it.

You don’t have to worry about the potential for information getting misconstrued or changed by going from one group to the next.

I think using Workiva brings a greater sense of consistency across your document as well as with the investor relations materials.

A tool that I like in there is the fact that others can comment on the areas and leave the comments directly in the tool. Even if it’s someone on a different time zone, they can go in, put in a comment. Then when you get in, you can go in and review their comment and make whatever necessary changes, or respond back to their comment explaining why that item was the way it was. I just think it’s saved so much time and made life a lot easier.

Just working with the staff at Workiva, how helpful they’ve been and all the resource tools that you guys have.

A wealth of information—help-desk items and videos that walk you through how to deal with specific challenges that you may be having. At any point in time, we can call up anyone at Workiva for assistance, and we get a response immediately.

I would absolutely recommend Workiva for a peer or any other company. It’s so user-friendly and easy to use, and the customer service is amazing, so I’d highly recommend it.
