WebFilings Plays in Google's Developer Sandbox

June 23, 2011

When you think of Google, you think of excellence in innovation and technology. Much like Google revolutionized the way people search for information, Wdesk is revolutionizing the External Reporting Solution through our excellence in innovation and technology...which makes for a perfect partnership.

In the Developer Sandbox at the recent Google I/O conference, Dan Murray, a contributor to WebFilings, was given the opportunity to speak to Google on building the Wdesk software on Google App Engine platform.

When we launched WebFilings, we knew we needed to partner with technology providers that could help us scale our business quickly. Google App Engine gave us that speed and enabled us to complete 71 additional releases, 261 new features, and 1232 improvements all in only 14 months. Google App Engine gave us that speed we needed to grow, but as Murray stated, “being on the Google foundation gives us and our customers peace of mind.” WebFilings needed a platform with a strong approach to security that was very reliable because our customers’ security is a top priority. Because our customers rely on accurate and timely access to the cloud as they input pre-released financial information, security is top-of-mind at our company. As a result, we want our customers’ security to be in the best hands, in Google App Engine’s hands.

WebFilings accelerated growth is a testament to our innovative External Reporting Solution combined with Google App Engine, which has taken the infrastructure management off our hands so that we can focus on scaling our business, not the technology. With the freedom that Google App Engine has given us, WebFilings is able to spend that time focusing on helping our customers save more time and eliminate costs and errors in their SEC reporting process. But don’t take our word for it, see what our customers have to say.
