Wdesk: Innovation in Collaboration

External reporting teams are always looking for ways to tighten up their SEC reporting process and save time. One of the ways that Wdesk helps users save time is through our collaboration model.

With Wdesk from WebFilings, external reporting teams collaborate in a cloud-based environment, allowing multiple users to work within the same financial document at the same time. During document drafting and editing, sections of the financial document are locked to provide greater control and accuracy over the document. Once a user has finished drafting or editing that document, they can then share their section or the entire document with other collaborators and reviewers.

Have you ever edited a dated version of a financial document or sent the wrong version out for review to your auditor, external counsel or internal executive reviewer? The collaborative capabilities of Wdesk ensure that all editors and reviewers are always working on the most current version of your financial document. In addition, our application saves past versions of our customers' financial documents for reference which can easily be compared to the current, active document utilizing our blackline capabilities.

The amazing thing about Wdesk is that it's a TRUE collaboration solution. A lot of companies say they have that, but they really don't. Wdesk seamlessly allows multiple people in multiple locations to access and edit a common document at the same time. For example, last quarter I was working from a hotel in Prince Edward Island and our SEC counsel was in Washington, D.C. We were both working on our filing document together at 10:30 at night. While accessing Wdesk, we were collaborating effectively by updating the text, and communicating by sending notes back and forth to each other about the document language. We were not on the phone, just collaborating in Wdesk. I have not seen a solution like this before, and none but Wdesk allows for collaboration and enables that kind of teamwork. Wdesk enables live collaboration between multiple parties around the world on complex financial documents. I think that is truly an awesome advance to a tedious process.
