MidWestOne Banks On Wdesk

November 28, 2011
Like so many of our customers, when MidWestOne Financial Group, Inc. subscribed to Wdesk, they found not only a solution for faster and more efficient external report filing, but also a team to support that deadline-sweating process. Prior to Wdesk, it had been a solo performance for MidWestOne’s Herb Musser, Vice President and SEC Reporting Officer, who is responsible for staging MidWestOne Financial Group’s financial report. Gathering information and developing the financial statements, along with filing with the SEC all fell on his shoulders—that’s why when they replaced the company’s manual system with the Wdesk platform from WebFilings, MidWestOne not only slashed days off the report development process, but also ended the days of late nights and weekend work for Musser. Now Musser has more time to produce accurate documents and isn’t restricted by the requirements of third-party printers. “Whenever I had a change, I had to mark up a piece of paper, scan it, and email it to the printer. It didn’t matter when you sent the change off—at 10 am or 4 pm—it was still going to take overnight to make the change.” The ease of using the Wdesk platform has been another benefit for Musser at MidWestOne. After just one training session with Wdesk he was able to file the company’s 10-Q in June. “It’s pretty intuitive...almost like working with word processing documents and spreadsheets. I was comfortable with that so it was very easy.” To learn more about how Musser is able to file an 8-K in just an hour, and why he describes linking as the best External Reporting Solution feature, click here to read the complete case study.
