Herman Miller's First Filing Is a 10-K
October 18, 2013Herman Miller was too hands on. The Michigan-based furniture company’s SEC reporting team was doing everything by hand, using spreadsheet programs and word processing to create reports.
According to Director of External Reporting, Assistant Corporate Controller, Paul Turnes, “Updating the word document and keeping all the versions straight was a continuous problem.” The team also battled formatting issues, footing errors, and number inconsistencies throughout the document.
Everything changed when the SEC reporting team got its first look at Wdesk. A demo of the External Reporting Solution, and the affordable price was all Herman Miller needed to see.
Herman Miller started using Wdesk a month before its fiscal year-end and successfully filed its 10-K. “We made the leap just a month before our fiscal year-end,” explains Paul Feyen, Manager of Consolidations and External Reporting. “But we went ahead and used it to file our 10-K. It worked out well, and our customer support person at WebFilings was really helpful.”
Thanks to Wdesk, the problems Herman Miller had while filing manually became a thing of the past.
