The Exchange Community welcomes Mary Schapiro
September 10, 2014

Today, The Exchange Community conference featured a unique Q&A conversation with the 29th Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Mary Schapiro.

Shapiro served at the SEC from 2009–2012 and is currently Vice Chairman of Promontory Financial Group’s Advisory Board, a board member at General Electric, and Vice Chair of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.

As we talked with Schapiro, she shared a number of important details surrounding corporate reporting for companies large and small. Her extensive experience at the SEC, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and Futures Industry Association gave the crowd many valuable insights into improving the quality of their own reports.

When Schapiro was named Chairman of the SEC in 2009, the organization was under tremendous scrutiny. Schapiro took on many challenges and emphasized teamwork, communication, and absolute fidelity to public trust to refocus the SEC's agenda and prove its viability as a stand alone agency.

Later in her talk, Schapiro stressed the importance of sustainability in corporate reporting and stated everyone benefits from integrated reporting.

We would like to thank Ms. Schapiro, as well as the rest of our presenters and customer panelists, for making today another success.

Throughout the conference we've been answering your questions, connecting you to your peers, and giving you Wdesk tips and tricks. Keep the questions coming—and stay tuned to see what's coming next.
